Description

Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, Canada 1990

Conceptual Art Edition by Canadian artist Raymond Gervais (1946-2018) featuring an imaginary (non-existing!) record by Canadian composer, producer and musician Pierre Mercure (1927-1966) & 4-page illustrated booklet with text “Les Disques De L’Imaginaire” by Canadian playwright, writer, sound poet and polemicist Claude Gauvreau (1925-1971).

“Canadian artist Raymond Gervais (1946-2018) explores the sonic imaginary through his sculptural, installation, photographic, performance, and textual practice. His conceptual proposals often use the record player as a working tool and sound as a sculptural material. In this work, the artist imagines sound compositions and questions the immateriality of sound, listening, and silence. This album cover, devoid of a vinyl record and dedicated to Claude Gauvreau and Pierre Mercure, is volume 13 of a series of thirteen covers.”
