Description

Rare 46-page book with CD published by Walther König in 2005. Sealed/mint.

Published on the occasion of the exhibition Utopia Station at the Haus der Kunst Munchen, curated by Molly Nesbit, Hans Ulrich Obrist, and Rirkrit Tiravanija.

The CD documents an audio installation devised by Boltanski for the Venice Biennale, and consists in 18 identical tracks, each 3:55 long, of dog barks.

“Under the pseudonym Amicale des temoins, Christian Boltanski created his poetic-conceptual project Entendre Les Chiens (Listen to the Dogs) for the 50th Venice Biennale, 2003. During the exhibition, he emitted a recording of the sounds from an island of feral dogs–who are kept away from the city of Venice on the island Lazzarretto Vecchio – from a series of speakers hidden throughout Venice. Interview in German/French and English by Hans Ulrich Obrist”
